Cooling Center Locations


The National Weather Service forecast predicts temperatures rising above 100 degrees Fahrenheit beginning Tuesday (5/13) and extending through at least Sunday (5/18) this week from 8:00am-5:00pm.

 The City of Austin offers daytime cooling at over 40 locations around town. Unhoused residents, service providers, and advocates can access the complete map of active locations by clicking here.

Hydration is key to preventing heat-related illness. Most cooling centers offer water fountains, as do many public parks throughout our community.

 Recognize the warning signs of heat-related illness:

 Hot weather can also change people’s reaction to substances. Recognize the signs of an opioid overdose (unresponsive, small pupils, not breathing, pale skin, blue lips or fingernails) and become familiar with how to administer Narcan/Naloxone to reverse the effects of an opioid emergency. Narcan/Naloxone is available from a variety locations and organizations.
